History

BursaTransport was designed and published as an Internet based solution for communication between transport and forwarding companies in 2000 by DACODA SRL, a Romanian freight forwarder. The strategy chosen for the first IT solution was the communication between transport operators with DACODA as a hub - like the platforms of some big freight forwarding companies still work today.

Since the expected audience result was not reached, in April 2001 the redesigned version was published, which is still available today. In this version, Dacoda gave up the role of central point of information and designed the platform as an “open market”.

BursaTransport offered free access to its users until January 2004 and, since then, the access has been prepaid, paving the way for the professionalization of the provided services.

In January 2007, BursaTransport was taken over by DACODASOFT SRL which has as main object of activity only the management and development of the application, without any connection to transport and freight forwarding.

In 2008, Wolters Kluwer Transport Services, a European provider of transport management services and software, takes over Dacodasoft. Two months later, BursaTransport and Teleroute, the freight exchange belonging to WKTS, started to exchange online and in real-time transport requests. Thus, the users of both exchanges benefit from a double number of loads to be transported.

In 2013, BursaTransport is renamed 123cargo.eu for non-resident companies in Romania. BursaTransport and 123cargo are different names of the same platform since then.

On 21 January 2015, Wolters Kluwer Transport Services and Cargo.LT, announced that they had laid the foundations for the online and in real time exchange of loads to be transported. Thus, for the first time in Europe, 3 freight exchanges federalise the transport requests in favour of their own subscribers. This partnership ended in August 2022.

In July 2017, Castik Capital, a European private equity investment company, purchases WKTS renaming it Alpega. The purchase involved Teleroute and BursaTransport freight exchanges and Transwide TMS.

One year later, in August 2018, Alpega purchases Wtransnet, the market leader in the Iberian Peninsula, and significantly extends the number of loads available to be transported in Southern and Western Europe.

In 2019, the responsive version of the 123cargo/BursaTransport website was launched with an upgraded look. This new version is designed to work on all types of devices, browser based.

In April 2021, 123cargo/BursaTransport celebrates 20 years of existence in Romania.
